Well it has been a rough start to 2015 so far. The bitter cold has settled in, which is the norm here in MN. I am still having some computer issues. I recently repaired a lap top with a broken screen. It worked real good up til yesterday when it stopped working. My oldest daughter was using it, without my permission, and it craped out. All I get is a white screen. SO after trying to get it back up and running i gave up. took the screen out of that one and put it back into another laptop.
I have two desk top computers I am going to try and get back up and running at some point. You know its funny maybe back at the end of the 1990's we didn't use a computer much. Now we all live on one. We use them to keep in touch with friends and family far and wide. I have reconnected with folks I knew years ago and lost touch with. I also have found new friends like Vicki, kymber & Jam., Pioneer Preppy, Stephen, Jacked Up Glock Mom and Senior, and a host of others. I read the news online now vs buying a newspaper.
I read several airline web sites daily. I know I don't work for an airline any more, but I try and stay in the loop. Many of you know that my son Scott and I joined/rejoined CAP. I have made new friends while looking for folks with our mind set. We have settled into the need one buy two, need two buy three. I few times I stopped buying items to stay ahead, then realize I'm out of something. Our shopping habbits are also changing. When we go shopping for food and dry goods we now shop based on price vs brand name. I want us now to cut out ground beef all together as its too pricy now. We can buy ground turkey for half the price of hamburger. Its the small things that add up.
Our belt tightening is going to get even tighter over the next few weeks and months. Our van has a issue with the motor. The repair bill is looking like it could cost up to a grand to fix. Now everything has to change. If the repair is too high we will put it off until we can save up the money. Which means more walking the grocery store is about mile or so. Not too bad. There is a bus service out here that is an on demand service. i have an pick up scheduled for Monday so I can get to Walmart to pick up medicine that I need. The prices are higher here in town then at Walmart, but I think I can set up for the bus to pick my wife and I and take us to Walmart again later in the week to go grocery shopping.
Well my friends that is what;s going on in my little corner of the world. So to say our stress level is running high is an understatement. Stay Vigilant, as others still want to harm our country both from the inside and outside our boarders.

costly repairs always suck for the money situation. Even when you kinda plan in an emergency stash of cash it just never really seems to cover it and yes for the time being computers are very much a part of the needed appliance group to. Although I kinda think people over do it with the laptop v. desktop option and could save themselves a lot of cash by going desktop. I still prefer the desktops anyway so I am biased.
Looks like the bitter cold is going to creep down here in the next day or two as well.
Seems to me like every time I think I have a chance of making ends meet - somebody goes and moves the ends. And about that time. Mother Nature shows us her nasty side. But somehow, we always seem to make it through in one piece. Hang in there, my friend.
Ground turkey, chicken breasts, salmon or cod ... there are plenty of alternatives to beef. We eat a lot of all those.
Hang in there, Rob; I've observed that the enemy seems to attack financially just before a breakthrough happens.
The cost of desk tops are lower then Lap tops. I can use either. My wife wants to get rid of our van and I said no way. Its a solid car no rust this is the only repair since we bought it.
Three of us walked to the store today, boy was it rough. The wind was bad but my legs are score and I had an asthma attack. I only have that when its this cold and I walk.
I love beef but the cost is crazy. I know we can do better in the meat dept. You can have your bitter cold back. LOL
2015 is looking like a tougher year for everybody, despite what the smiling faces on tv say.
The cost to repair the van is way cheaper than buying a new (used) one. And like you stated, it is in good condition and it's just a repair. We've done that with the hobovan. Watch for roast prices to drop below the ground beef and if you have a sausage maker, grind your own. (keep an eye on craigslist, yard sales and thrift shops for them - even a hand crank one)
Like Rev Paul said, the enemy likes to push our buttons and kick ya when your down. Keep looking up. Mr. H worked only 10 days last year so I truly understand where you're coming from. With his line of work, it is either feast or famine. The past several years has been more on the famine side of things.
Well we all know how the MSM works. Some propaganda machine, right.??
Hobo we are going to keep the van, its coming up with the money that will take some time. I think we are going to replace the engine with a rebuilt vs repairing the current one. I have seen pork come down some, but I am going to keep better tabs on pricing, local vs Walmart.
Computers nowadays seem to have a lot of things we need, such as communication, research tools, and even entertainment. Maintaining it could be a real bugger, though it’s better than breaking it and paying a fortune in repairs. Anyway, I’m sure your daughter didn’t mean for any unfortunate thing to happen, and I’m sure she’s sorry about it. How is your computer now? I hope things are doing better for you. Take care!
