Are We There Yet??

You remember that old saying, "Are We There yet?" well today is day four in our hero's return from Orlando. I know this young man will be very glad to be home. Home to hugs, teasing and home coked meals. If you recall I joked about plan "A", "B" etc. etc. Well I lost tract of which one we are on as of today.

Jordon was to get the truck on Friday, that slipped to Saturday. He was planning on leaving on Saturday, that slipped to Sunday. Sunday came and he set out for home. Well that was another plan. Due to heavy traffic on the turnpike in Fla, he only got as far as Gainsville. End of day one and still in Fla. Day two see Jordon back on the road. He told be "Dad, I'll make Nashville tonight. Well that was the plan. One hitch was Atlanta at rush hour, didn't happen his GPS, set him through east Ga. into Alabama. Two lane roads and slow going

At the end of day two, Jordon pulls into Montgomery Ala. A nights sleep, gets loaded up and headed out. Day three, "Dad Louisville tonight" Well that was the plan. one hour on I 65 and traffic was at a stand still. A accident had all lanes closed, detour added time to his day. He sat on I 65 for almost an hour before he could turn off. He gets back on I 65 after the detour, and fuel stop, He pulled into Elizabethtown KY. Not as far as he planned, but there was a White Castle burger joint so that was motivation to get there. As he was nearing Nashville his phone went off with storm warnings. He calls me up, "weather check please" Looks good, rain and storms were behind him.

So my friends that puts him into today day four. My son Scott talked to him on the phone, Scott said something about 10:30 am, It was then Jordon realized he had gone from Eastern Time zone to Central, but back into Eastern again. He was behind again. He has texted me saying he had made it to Indianapolis, and was planning on Peoria Ill. tonight.

Maybe he'll be home tomorrow night vs tonight as the original plan. As he passed through Nashville he said it would be un American not to listen to county music.

Hopefully I can post a "His finally home post" in a day or two. I have decided to leave comment monitoring on, to cut out the troll middle man/women. Stay Safe my friends...

Rob

This road trip has turned into quite an ordeal, hasn't it? I feel for you - been there (both driving and waiting for someone else) and it isn't fun.

As long as he gets home, that's all that matters.

Padre, I too have done the big move. L.A. in 1971, back to MN in 1978, and again with our move down to Fla in 2007 and back home again in 2013. Jordon help us move back in 2013, but returned back to Fla. I just talked to him, he said he is just ready to be home. He said "I will be home tomorrow". Music to a parents ears.

So glad to hear he is nearly home. And that your family will be together. That's what counts.

As long as he gets home to you safely and in one piece. That's the most important thing!
Prayers and good thoughts he doesn't run into any more hold-ups due to weather or accidents.

Awesome news, Rob. Get those steaks ready. Looking forward to the "Jordan's Home" post.... and I'm sure he will be relieved to be home, too.

He has a loooong trip, about 1600 miles or if all goes well about 23 hours!
Hope all is going well.

It took a little longer as he drove himself vs someone with him.
