Civil Air Patrol Photo Recon....

As many of you know two of my boys and I are involved with Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. CAP has a fleet of Cessna 172 & 182 aircraft. The two maps I posted show where CAP planes have flown taking hundreds of thousands of high resolution photos, showing the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

These areas in blue and black shows the areas CAP has flown so far.
Our units in Puerto Rico, will be flying over their island taking photos of damage.

Our units in Florida will be flying over damage from Irma. Units from several states have sent crews and planes to Texas to help out with the recon photos. MN has crews on standby but have not been sent south yet. Our state has sent Air National Guard, and Army National Guard, aircraft and helicopters to Texas. Soon they will join the effort in Florida.

Stay Safe Everyone.

Didn't know you did all that photography. Good for the CAP!
Who ends up with all of them?

Hi Mike, Sorry for the late reply. All the photos taken are property of the USAF. They get used by all most every government agency for damage assessment. After 9-11 CAP aircraft where the only civilian planes flying when all aircraft become grounded, besides the military. The USAF funds all of these flights. We are the low and slow part of the Air Force.

We have planes every year that play "TAG" (for a better term) with Air Force fighters leading up to the Super Bowl. It was confirmed that MN Wing has on going "TRAINING" for the up coming Super Bowl 52 being played in Minneapolis. Of course we don't know which units of CAP are involved. Publicly
