Super Busy

Greetings My Friends, I know its been over a week since I last posted. Jordon has been home a week already but its seems like he has been here since his grandfathers funeral, in February. With me saying I have been busy is an under statement.

I have taken Jordon and Scott(youngest)both in for eye exams. Its been awhile for both. We,da wife and I, put our foot down and said..Its well past time for eye checks. Both had good outcomes. Now everyone has had their eyes checked. We have done some updating around the house. New washer, dryer, stove and refrigerator. The washer is working very well. The dryer is in but, I need to install a better vent system. Stove is not hooked up yet, I have to shut off the gas to replace part of the gas line. Fridge is plugged in and cooling down. Later today everything will get moved over, unplug the old one to take outside.

We purchased a new queen size bed, that comes later this week, we also so have a different couch in the living room, thanks to Goodwill. With our major appliances replaced they will use way less energy. To clarify our wild spending to all the haters of my blog, Our family was blessed with a gift, after much thought and prayers, we decided what we needed vs any luxury. Every item purchased was a necessity.

One thing I have learned from several friends, is the knowledge of the need to buy one, but buy two way of thinking. My kids have been giving me a hard time about it. Hey I'll accept that criticism. Other things we need to do is paint the whole inside of the house every room, not sure about replacing all the flooring. Jordon says we should put in hard wood flooring in the kitchen and bath. Still thinking about that. Our carpet has to be the cheapest that was available when it was rehabbed. The kitchen floor was never glued down, It looks like it was rolled out, left to flatten out better and forgot about. We have managed to rip it moving appliances around. Its been repaired, but should be replaced

Well I think that's about it for now..

Stay Safe...ROB

Glad your family is together - enjoy as you are!

Still waiting on my kitchen range(we need a roof worse). Too busy with folks - dementia in mom. She doesn't always know dad. I have never seen him cry before. He can no longer care for her without help. They have known each other since the early '30's and been married for more than 60 years. They have lived long, rich lives and we are very blessed. After more than 80 years, love does trump all.... Redder

Hi Redder, Sorry to hear about the folks. My In Laws were married over 66 yrs. I see on the news about flooding in ND. Is it effecting you at all?? Is it quite around there now with the protesters gone??

Flooding to the north, pipeline to the south. The court cases will be going on forever, I think. The little actress (that I had never heard of until she was arrested) had her day in court a week or so ago and Chase Iron Eyes (a ND DNC candidate for a political office) entered his "not guilty" plea last week. They interviewed wives of NDNG and ND LOEs on a radio station last week. Three women talked about the threats against them, their husbands and children while their husbands were working the protest. Pretty terrifying for some. They were followed, their license plates and vehicles were posted on FB, pictures of their kids and where they went to school, their homes etc. Numerous had their identity information stolen and posted. Some had to evacuate their houses and kids in the middle of the night due to threats. Now we (Morton County and ND) sit with a 33 million plus LEO bill and another million or two for clean up (something like 270 truck loads of garbage out of the "water protector's" camp - and that wasn't all - they burned a bunch!) with no idea other than ND taxpayers of how it will be paid for. MN wouldn't send officers so we don't owe my former home state anything, but many others we do. Most of the real problems were caused by the out of staters. Top four license plates -? California, Oregon, Minnesota (half to 2/3 were from those three states) and Washington State, followed by Maryland, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Illinois. Also saw Ontario, Alberta, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and a few others. They traveled in caravans at times plus the traffic on Highway 6 was thick and slow so it was easy to count and read them. Now the bridge is back open on 1806 so that is easier on the locals, but word is the Casino down there isn't going to make it. Huge employer and income generator for the ND part of that reservation. I am afraid this is going to hurt the tribe down there far more than anyone imagined....... Redder

Thanks for the update. I heard about all the trash. More pollution harm by the ones saving the land then the pipeline will ever do. If folks spent their time doing something that would make a real difference,(cleaning up the inter cities) our country would be a better place.

Hi Rob,
I guess I was under the assumption you were renting but with all the reno/improvement work sounds like you own it? It's good that you're updating the kitchen, new appliances have much better energy consumption and user friendly conveniences. What brand of appliances did you get for yourself I mean wife :-)?

Mike Sorry it took me a while to reply. Washer Dryer are Amana. Whirlpool, fridge Stove is Amana. Our place is rent to own. Once the appliances fail, we replace. Our washer was a second hand, hand me down. No dryer at all. Stove top works, oven stopped working. I figured may as well replace fridge too. My wife received a gift of money. We didn't have to think very long on what we needed, plus a new queen size bed for the wife. stocked up on foods, dry and fresh. All appliances where on sale at Menard's, like Home Depot.
