Sounds About Right...
Right Lucy, I couldn't have said it any better..Seems like just yesterday we all thought winter would never end. Its already knocking on our door. At the rate its going half of the trees in our area will be bare by Oct 1st.
Cool weather is upon us. I joked about taking our A/C units out of the windows, my oldest says if you do you know we will get that last string of 100 degree days... No I think those days are gone for this year. We had heavy thunderstorms roll through last night about 9 pm. I called it the last storm of the summer. To me summer runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Why do I think that?? Well with all the years I worked for an airline that was our busy time of the year. Then it was the Holidays Thanksgiving to New Years, then when winter sets in January to end of March.
Stay Safe All...Still praying for family and friends on the east coast. May God protect you from harm.
Rob

I think your observations are spot on. We're now in normal temps (low 40s, high in mid-60s) and - thank God! - it's raining. The wildfires are in retreat, and the next step for us will be frosty nights and highs in the mid-50s, as our temps tend to drop 10 degrees at a time. I expect to see termination dust on the mountain peaks around us fairly soon.
Yep, you know its near, but can not say the "S" word
Had to put our heater on this morning. Yeah, Winter and July.
Not yet for us. It was around 50 this am. I try and wait as long as we can. Mid Oct, or early Nov
Summer is still hanging on around here. Good thing since I'd like to get at least a dozen tomatoes off them this year! No beans and corn is really patchy. We'll see if we get some ears, but not looking too hopeful. Can we say dismal!?!! Stay tuned! Got some insights regarding that....
I believe that we're in for an Indian Summer this year in our neck of the woods. The hummingbirds have finally migrated south, the blackbirds are starting to annoy my sunflowers, but no leaves changing color on the mountains just yet. We've gotten more rain over the summer and even today got some rain. Haven't had summer storms in a couple of years. It is hard to set out the warming blankets, thermals and woolens that are arriving at the store. Some nice fall and winter garments but at 90 degrees outside, it sure is hard to get excited about them! ha!
But when the white stuff is ready to fly, we'll surely be ready.
Yea its just hard to think about the white stuff... The forecast is 4 in of rain. I saw the map and thought the totals where snow...
