Hi Friends,
Just checking in with everyone. My family and I are safe and warm. Temps are crazy cold. -10 around here. Lots of things going on. We are puppy sitting two dogs next week as my kids are going on a rescue run to Ft Benning Ga. to bring home my youngest son from Basic Training. Scott has 18 days leave. He has already asked for a good home cooked meal.
We have been going through our pantry of dry/canned goods, looking for any cans that don't look right or recalled. Found a few but not enough to stress over. Had a couple of them the labels turned black..Not sure why but gone just the same. Found a bottle of salad dressing dated 2011. Turned brown, gone was buried way in the back. i knew it was there but couldn't see the whole bottle.
Had the daughter try and regroup them by type of canned goods. Corn, peas, green beans etc. We found enough cans of kidney beans and tomato sauce for the wife to make up chili for dinner last night. That was a great meal. It started out as a whats for dinner? I don't know lets check and see what we have...Oh look how about Chili??...Done.

Nothing like chili on a cold day!
Yep. Just drank coffee that was 2 years past its use by date..No taste difference. Just added one more sweetener vs 2 I use anyways. Pork chops tonight for dinner
Way to cold for me, but the chili sounds good!
We normally get this bitter cold in January. We had a dusting of snow this am. Just enough to make everyone drive so. The city didn't plow, just salted the roads. State Hwy & Interstates are wet
That's interesting about 2 years past best by date and still tastes good. There is much debate about storing coffee long term. The most common thought is buy and store coffee beans. Then when needed roast them and then grind them. I'll have to dig into it again. Thanks for posting!
