Winter ??

Just when you think that winter just might be over, Momma nature sends just enough snow and cold bitter wind chills to say, OK MN I maybe hammering the Northeast for winning the Super Bowl, I haven't forgot about you. About an inch of snow yesterday morning, last night, then another inch or two this morning. To top it off she says oh by the way have some bitter wind chills over night tonight.

I have been trying to stay indoors, but that never seems to happen. had to run down to Hutchinson, MN last evening so #2 son could get his glasses finally have almost 9 years without. He had glasses in Fla, but lost them at Disney while working with the Lake Patrol on a lake at Disney World. He looks good. said oh i don't need glasses. He put on his new ones and guess what he did. Kids.

While at Walmart I looked at picking up some stew meat, wow is all I can say. $24.00 for 4 lbs of stew meat..passed. Instead we made up some chicken soup. Without a recipe to follow my wife and kids did a grand job. I did have to run out and get more chicken stock as the one we got at Walmart had been opened and we didn't notice it. We dumped that one out.

I became a citizen of the 21st Century today, as I broke down and bought a regular cell phone. I didn't want to get one, but with all my family having their own, i am now going to kill our home phone on Monday. The money I'm paying for the home phone will pay for my cell and I will still save money.

Scott and I both received our Gen. Chuck Yeager Aerospace Awards last week. Scott I think is one of the few Senior Members in Civil Air Patrol, to receive this award in less then 6 months in the program. Its needed to complete Level # training, we both are in the middle of Level 2. Another Senior Member took the test an she complained about how hard it was to read a 600 page text book them take the exam. I said to her "there's a text book??" Oh the look was priceless. You see when you are an AVGEEK and a Space Nerd, it comes easy. Big Evil Grin.

If I don't post for the next week or two it will be because I'm busy with CAP. The Wing is having a volleyball tournament inviting all 25 squadron's to send teams. following this there is a Lock In open to all 500+ cadets in the wing. We are invading one of the state colleges. I will be helping with Security overnight and I am in charge of Food Service for the cadets and seniors attending. Our squadron is getting donations of food and/or money from local businesses. We are estimating maybe 150 or so will attend. Its not for two weeks from today, but I have to start calling the businesses and arrange pick up dates and times for there donations.

Well that's it for now. Stay Warm if you have been digging out, Stay Safe while doing so.......Rob

I have to maintain a land line at the house because terrain masking in the mountains is so bad, my cell usually won't work at home. Texts eventually seem to filter through but not always in a timely fashion.

We finally killed our land line this Fall but I think only because the phone company finally let us. Before it was baked into the internet package even though we never used it.

After my recent trip to Ohio I am never gonna complain about Missouri wind again lol.

We still have dead zones out in "Farm Country" which is funny as we have hills not mountains. The hardest part is I have to know get 6 other phone numbers just for us here at home plus #1 son in Fla. and remember them all. lol

It costs us like $40 a month for only maybe two calls a week. When we are out and about the kids going in different directions, so I like to call them to say hey the bus is leaving for home. LOL the kids don't want me out without a phone in case something happens to me, I can call 911 faster. Mostly if I fall or other health issues.
