74 Years Ago Today...D-Day The Longest Day

It was #OTDIH, late this evening, that 821 Douglas C-47 Skytrains and 516 Waco Horsa gliders of the IXth Troop Carrier Command, airlifted 13,348 paratroopers of the US 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, and another 7,900 men of the British 6th Airborne Division and the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion to drop them behind the beaches for D-Day.

"The Longest Day"

Many men came here as soldiers
Many men will pass this way
Many men will count the hours
As they live the longest day

Many men are tired and weary
Many men are here to stay
Many men won't see the sunset
When it ends the longest day

The longest day, the longest day
This will be the longest day
Filled with hopes and filled with fears
Filled with blood and sweat and tears

Many men, the mighty thousands
Many men to victory
Marching on, right into battle
In the longest day in history

I hope the world never has to go through this kind of war again.  We will always remember the brave souls lost their lives on all sides in Europe and the Pacific. The soldiers were following orders. The ones to blame are Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini.

Excellently done: I haven't seen all these graphics in one place before. Well done, indeed!
