Caught Off Guard

I will say this much..I'm a hippocrate. Here I sit in my home and tell everyone that we need to be ready for this that and everything else. I'm here to say I have been caught unprepared. I did not buy any winter gloves, hat, or long johns to be out in this bitter cold. I have had to be out in this weather.

We have two cars, one is currently sitting at my sons place in Winsted about 10 miles away. It is having an over heating issue. I could have it towed to Cokato to get fixed, but we lack the funds to do so or have it repaired. I won't let any of my adult kids pay for it as they are being tight with there money as work hours and been cut and two are currently not working. Oh my other car is with my youngest kids as the are room mates and I don't want them walking over 30 min to work.

My kids that are not working its not for the lack of trying to find jobs. My youngest is looking at any job to take so he can at lest have money coming in. Thank god he has gotten some of his tax money back. I told him he sits on it so he can pay his rent, food etc. I read Vicki's post and I feel for her. But hey we MN are a hearty bunch, or stupid depending on how you look at it.

We have been able to get to the store for food, etc. I was in a rush the other day forgot my list picked up many items but spaced off on other things. Like?? coffee creamer, almost out. Zero Cal sweetener, OUT, zero. Coffee with out is well not a good thing. Suck it up buttercup, I make do without. didn't buy enough bread only 4 loaves. Shame on me. Oh wait I can make rolls?? Right. Not enough flour.

I hang my head in shame. I still have money left in my food budget. I still have spending money for the other needs t.p., dish soap, etc. It pays to be tight with our money. Our furnace is working but I think I need to replace the thermostat It works but at times we have to shut it off the furnace and turn it back on to get it to reset and run. A minor issue. lately I have been sitting in my recliner, all wrapped up in warm clothes and a blanket. If I should run out of coffee I will just run water through the coffee maker and drink that. Hey its still a hot drink.

They are forecasting more snow again next week. Oh joy.  Well I will close this post for now. I will update again in a few days.

I will pray for the safety of my friends as I know you will for my family..
