Stress Level Higher Then High

This is the best way to describe my days as of late. My van is not running, blown engine, flat tire, dead battery. My bank paid some money to a company I don't have service from. They cancelled my card, sending me a new one. and still out money. After talking to my bank, (their days are numbered because of this bull shit) and after talking to the company who charged my account. I may never see that money again.

I called my bank again to get access to my account to check to make sure all my money spent over the last year is accounted for. I was told I have to wait until I get my new card and its activated. So who is my bank?? I was conned by Social Security to use their banking. Direct Express. I had Sunbank in Florida if I had issues I could walk into my branch and issue resolved.

The only good thing to come out of this is I now will find a better bank.

Have a better week then I'm having.

Well that sucks. I absolutely hate unknown charges on my account and they always seem to hit at the most inopportune times too. I haven't had anything like that happen to me in a long time these days though but occasionally my son will do something unexpected on the one shared account I keep for him.

If it makes ya feel any better my truck has been sitting int he same spot at the garage I towed it to for going on three weeks. I know the guy doesn't want to work on it cause he has to pull the engine to get to the tranny housing and if I wasn;t towing the thing I would have taken it somewhere else.

I may get my van fixed before I see this money again. The good thing is DirecTV can't charge my account again with a new card.

oooooo direct TV. So was it a hidden sports package that automatically get's charged unless you cancel it? I had that happen to me once over a decade ago. Some NFL package I never even knew was on there that came free the first year and then ran 240 bucks a month the second year. I don't even watch sports and never knew about it until I got the bill then they tried saying it was too late and I owed them 240 bucks a month for the entire season plus superbowl. I told em to stick it up their ass and called my card company to not accept charges from them again.

Nothing is worse than having credit card or identity theft. I went through it about 10 years ago and it was the worst 2 years of my life. The bank, Bank of America was somewhat helpful but the police department was worthless. I had found exactly the address of where the fraudulent purchases were sent (Orange City California I live in Florida) and the local police said it was out of their jurisdiction and could do nothing but said to call Orange California. Well they didn't care at all and were no help and this was over $6,000 of theft!
When it comes to identity theft we are on our own. It took me 2 years to fix it.
Yes, use a big bank (as much as I dislike them) with nearby branches as they were the most help. We stopped using the debit card when Target and Home Depot had the data theft and now only use credit cards for purchases.

Now you can imagine what a cyberwar would do to this country, it would stop it cold. Hang in there Rob, I feel for ya!

Oh, geez, Rob. That's awful. Hope you can get it straightened out. I nearly went with the same banking system for Social Security as you did, but then found it more to my liking to open an account at my neighborhood bank. You need to vent, you know where I am.

PP I have never used Direct. Not sure if I will ever see that $118 dollars again. But I am putting up a fight.

Mike when we first moved to Florida we had BA. That didn't last long either. I was very happy with Sunbank, but they have no offices in MN at this point I may just call them and see if I can return and do everything by mail or phone. My boys have Wells Fargo, which at one time was based here in MN. but they charge fees for having checking.

Rob, if you have past/present military service call USAA or check out their website online for your banking. They were very helpful when the credit card got scammed and when I had some issues when a grocery store had electronically deposited my check... twice. Checking is free & they even give you non-usaa atm fees back under a certain amount (think it is something like up to $12 (??) per statement).

Hope things get better for you soon.

Thanks Hobo. I contacted Suntrust yesterday and they said I can open a another account with them even tho they have no offices in Mn. I used the ATM at a Wells Fargo before all this started and I received a slip saying if I moved my account to their bank, I could earn an extra $100. WOW now that is service. Direct Express wouldn't even talk to me about this issues and two other banks want my business. I am in the USAF Aux Civil Air Patrol but I don't know if I could use USAA.

Rob, I went online to see if they offered anything for CAP's members. May be worth a phone call... I got it through my dad since he is retired USMC. Give them a call and see what they can do for you. They are really nice to work with & I have no complaints. My husband had Wells Fargo and they were a pain in the neck.

Per USAA website (under their CAPS section):

USAA joins forces with military affiliate groups.

In the military, there's a sense of camaraderie like nowhere else — a bond among service members that runs strong and deep. At USAA, we share that same loyalty and dedication to the military community. Since 2009, we've been joining forces with military affiliated groups to help spread the word about our financial products and services while assisting programs that benefit veterans, military members and their families.

Thanks Hobo. I checked CAP National web site and they list USAA Master Card. I will call and see what they say. The Wells Fargo office near us is a small branch, after all we are in farm country. My son had an issue and they took care of it that day.
