Yep...We are ready. I had been saving money when I could and earlier this fall bought a propane camp stove and a propane space heater that will keep at least one room of my apartment warm. I'm really glad I won't be one of those rushing to the store at the last minute for bread and milk. The only thing I need to do is catch up on the laundry before Monday. And Rob...I know you are just as prepared. We have both lived through enough winter storms to know just how ugly they can be.

Vicki, good for you! A few simple preps will keep you warm, lights at night and food to eat!

Hey Rob! It's 80f here. Why don't you dodge the storm and come down here for a couple weeks? There's plenty of room on the sandy beaches!

If you have grown up or lived at anytime in MN or Wis. You damn well better be ready for winter. We have a gas stove but we need power for lights and furnace. We can crack open the kitchen window and move everyone to the Living Room. Shovels have been out since Thursday when we got a dusting of snow. Sunday will be final preps before it hits the fan.

A week or so ago we had rain for 3 days, if it would have been snow it would have been 2 feet at lest. After it rained the temps turned cold in the 20 daily.

Mike, I'll pass, we lived in Orlando for 6 years, I'll take putting on layers to stay warm over stripping to my boxers to stay cool any day. Much happier back in MN even with the subzero temps in January.

OK, but I'll keep the light on for you! :-)

All the snow is gone but it is frosty. The inversion rolled in and causing mischief. Another storm is suppose to come in Wednesday. So for now we'll be in the 20's, burning wood, keeping poultry waterers free of ice and making sure all is well for them. The livestock have flowing water but still have to check line.

Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Good thing to have especially with gas stoves. Keep the woolens handy and stay safe & warm.

Rob said...

We don't have a CO detector as of now. Something to look into. The snow is starting to fall on the western suburbs of the metro area. east metro has about 3 " on the ground.

Well, it's not 80 here but will be in the sixties and seventies for several days. Supposed to hit 40 on Friday nite...brrrrr. I'm not a stranger to winter weather. I feel your pain.
