Proud Home Owners....

We are finally proud home owners.  We moved into our home in Dec 2013. We having been buying rent to own. We have made all of our payments on time, no late fees. While its not a "real" home it is still home. Some say a mobile home, or manufactured homes are not real, they are in fact real to all of that own one. This is the very first home we have owned. We have come close several times but God finally said to us now is the time and this is the place. We also love our quite community.

Now we can get into doing upgrades to the interior. The repainting and other odd repairs. The time has come to save up money to replace 12 windows. I was thinking of using the money we have been paying on the purchase of this place to buy a new window every other month or so. Store in our shed, then come next spring replace all the windows at the same time. After that the cheap carpet they had installed. the kitchen floor and bathroom floor tiles.

Redoing the kitchen counter around the sink. We have a closet/pantry that needs to be ripped out and rebuilt. I have been acquiring the needed power tools. Table saw, brand new, two drills, brand new, jig saw used, palm sander, used, miter saw used.  Plus a well stocked family of 5 kids and one grandson available with elbow grease.  So the extended family will be told instead of Christmas gifts this year, please give us gift cards to Menard's, or Walmart.

Besides having children and a grandson nothing is more satisfying then home ownership. The humidity here is gross. Winter will be a welcome change. well, that's all I got.

Stay Safe, Keep doing what you need to do. The LEFT is still trying to bring the US down...

Congratulations on being a homeowner. With the way things are in this country, many never get the chance.

Oh my gosh! I can identify with your pride and wanting to make improvements that are important to "You". Some will tell you that a home is a money pit (and maybe it is) but it is YOUR pit!!! Happy for you and your family. Being a proud and responsible home owner is a great accomplishment.

My wife and I have together 32 years, and this is our first place. We have come close before. We found two we loved back in 2003. BUT that gut feeling (god) said issues with both and we passed

Sue, you are so right. We can drive through any town and see homes that are rental or owned. Almost every home here in my community has had roofing and or siding replaced due to hail storms 2 out of the last 3 years.

Thanks Vicki, WE have an issue with who has the title. The park owners say not them. The management company that was collecting all the monies from everyone is not talking to the owners or caretakers. The owners fired the management company for failing to pay off vendors and such. Same company for the last 4 or 5 years. All our payments got paid online. I have no records so to speak off. I was going to pull it off online but the server connection was cut before I could. I do have my current bank statements. Just in case someone pulls crap. The caretaker has said she will not change us any more house payments. Thats good.

Congratulations on your home ownership!
For me the most important thing in my life is to own a home “free and clear”. Now, all you have to do is pay the annual taxes and no one can take it away regardless of how bad the economy gets.

After home ownership, the second thing is a paid for vehicle that’s reliable, no matter how old or how many miles on it. It’s just a means to get to a job or to the supermarket unless you can walk or ride a bike to them.
“Live Free”!

I hate to say this, but your title issue sounds like a can of worms right now. Hopefully you can resolve the issue quickly and on your own. These kind of people are pure evil. Don’t let it go to long without legal assistance. You need to hold the title that’s ‘in your name’ and ‘lien free’. Until then it’s really not yours and can be sold out from under you.

Mike I understand. We still have to pay lot rent. Not worried too much on taxes...YET. I do have a lawyer I can contact. If it is not resolved by 1 Sept I will call my lawyer. Now that we own it, we can move it to another park or our land. I have to pay an inspector to see if it can be moved. Then we have to pull everything out to have it moved. Makes it lighter. My oldest son told me to sell it. Right I said and then find a new place to live...NOT HAPPENING...LOL

I know, lot rent is like taxes and you got to pay it. I spent my teenage years in a 10x55, 3-bed mobile home with only 10 feet between the homes! However in bad times he may cut you a deal before pulling it off the lot. Banks on the other hand, don’t care what your problem is and will seize it and sell it to get some of their money. Really bad people!

I assume your son saying to sell it, he plans on making the payments for the next 20 years? Ha Ha  Living free of debt is priceless, now you and the wife can live it for the rest of your life.

I sure like hearing you’re considering buy your own land! Makes great sense. If code will allow multiple homes on that piece of land you could have a ‘family compound’, for me that is a pleasant thought. All together but separate.

Mike while it would be nice to have our owned land I don't see it happening. We would have to move way out father into the sticks. We live about 1hr drive from Downtown Minneapolis. Never go there anyway. We would have to go more north or west. Too far west and we would be in Dakotas. My parents had 5 acres up north, but my dad sold it about two years ago. I wanted that land for us. My brother was going to get the house after dad passed. Now I still don't want the house, but would force a sale and split any monies with my brother. I like the house I grew up in, but not the city life.

Enjoy the (paid for) home you have for a few years. If you feel the need to move then do it but NEVER go back to a mortgage or loan on what you have. Sit back and enjoy every day for the rest of your lives! :-)

Mike we didn't have a mortgage per say, it was a rent to own. I will be happy to have the tittle/deed in my hands. I guess I should look into taxes.

Congratulations and, remember, home is where you hang your hat. Now, go get a hat hook and actually attach it to the wall.... permanently! :-)

I understand. Its just a paperwork issue that has me stressed out. Once it has my name on it, I'll be fine. Sorry about the late reply. I don't get notice that folks have posted, so I have to go back and check for replies
