SHTF...Now What??

Well, its a sad day world wide..Just about everything is closed. All schools in our state, public private. Ran to a Walmart west of here in Litchfield..Ugly is an under statement. No TP, No water, no hand soap, no bleach.

We have TP for a bout a week or so. I told the family streach it out don't know when we will get anymore. We are low on bread. Told family to cut back on that too. Only one sandwich vs two. Going to check and see what is available in town later. No fresh bread, look at frozen dough, if none, flour to bake our own. We do have flour, but not a lot.

I will post a daily update to keep everyone in the loop. I think is best to keep each other updated.

Stay safe...Rob

Yeah, it wasn't too bad at ours Saturday morning, but by Sunday morning the place was bare.

Hide sight is great. If I would have know Friday morning how bad it was going to be I would have bought more TP, and fresh bread

Here in NE Florida most stores are about normal with a couple of exceptions. But this is hurricane country and most have some preps for the up-coming hurricane season.
Myself, I'm good for months if there is a lock-down or curfew enforced.

Hated to do it, but I have issued an edict to my wife, use only 1 tp square for each visit. That went very well, I may get out of the hospital tomorrow.

We are good on the basic life supporting items, coffee, creamer, zero cal sweetener..LOL. I tell my family take it easy on the TP. I think as time goes by. folks will settle down.

We live rural and are always stocked up. Can't drive 30 miles to town just to get some milk. It's called a pantry where I grew up. Always have at least 50 lbs flour on hand.

We live in a small town, but our market is bigger then most. 3 Walmarts are 17 to 25 miles.. We stock up at WM, but milk & bread is local. I have bought 4 gal. milk, and 6 loafs bread cause we use a loaf a day. My wife said yesterday, we don't live down south and I'm not baking bread. If she has no choice she does or I will.

What does living down south have to do with baking bread?

I call our local market the High Dollar store. That is because when we first moved here 12 years ago, I went to get 2 loaves of bread. They wanted $4.50 a loaf at that time.

Nothing my wife try's to be sarcastic, most time she fails Her baking experience is already baked or open the can of pre made and bake

Fred around here its the brand name that's high priced. Store brand is the way to go. At Marketplace store brand is $1.79..vs Dollar General store brand is $1.25

Oh, lol

At that time the High Dollar store was the only game in town. Now there is a Dollar General. Tonight at the DG all of the canned goods were gone. Went to the High Dollar store, canned goods there were 50 to 100% more expensive. DG gets restocked tomorrow morning. Will go again then, if gallant Gov. Newsom will let me.

Good luck, I see CA has a stay at home order. 40 million folks are not going to sit at home. Whats the Gov going to do arrest everyone, then what place them at the open air stadiums?? When we shop we lean towards store brand which is just has good as name brand. Oh don't tell anyone, but its the same product in both made by the same company...different label.
